DREAMAX Co. Ltd. (株式会社ドリマックス) ("we", "us", the "School") complies with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan (APPI) and other applicable laws, and handles the personal information of users of the online language-learning service "DREAMAX" (the "Service") in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following information in providing the Service:

  • Account information: name, email address, and profile image obtained through Google sign-in
  • Profile information: nickname, year of birth, learning goals, learning language, etc.
  • Learning records: progress, answers, submitted assignments, XP and review history, etc.
  • Audio data: recordings made when using pronunciation assessment and AI conversation features
  • Payment-related information: purchase history and plan information (card numbers are handled by Stripe; we never collect or store them)
  • Technical information: cookies and localStorage, access logs, device and browser information, etc.

3. Purposes of use

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • Providing the Service, identity verification, and account management
  • Managing learning progress and personalizing learning content
  • Providing AI learning features such as pronunciation assessment, AI feedback, and AI conversation
  • Billing and payment processing
  • Protection of minors (including confirmation of guardian consent)
  • Sending announcements and notification emails
  • Service improvement, quality assurance, and troubleshooting
  • Compliance with applicable laws

4. Third parties and processors

We never sell your personal data. Except as required by law or for the outsourced processing below, we do not provide personal data to third parties without your consent.

We entrust the handling of personal data to the following processors in order to provide the Service:

  • Google LLC (Firebase / Google Cloud): authentication, database, file storage, hosting
  • Stripe, Inc.: payment processing (card details are handled exclusively by Stripe)
  • Microsoft Corporation (Azure Speech): pronunciation assessment and speech processing; processing regions are limited to Japan East or Southeast Asia
  • Anthropic, PBC: text generation for AI feedback and conversation; only de-identified text with identifiers removed is sent — never audio or directly identifying information
  • Resend, Inc.: delivery of notification emails

5. Cross-border transfers

The servers of the processors above may be located outside Japan (mainly in the United States). We confirm that each processor maintains appropriate safeguards for the protection of personal data.

Audio data and personal information are never processed on servers located in China.

6. Handling of audio data

Audio for pronunciation assessment is processed by Microsoft Azure in the Japan East or Southeast Asia region.

AI conversation recordings are stored only if you opt in. When stored, they are kept in the Tokyo region for up to 30 days and used solely for teacher review and feedback.

7. Cookies and localStorage

The Service uses cookies and localStorage to keep you signed in, remember your language preference, and preserve learning state. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the Service may not function correctly as a result.

8. Personal information of minors

Minors must use the Service with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Until guardian consent is confirmed, minors cannot use paid features.

9. Requests for disclosure, correction, and deletion

You may request disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, or suspension of third-party provision of your personal data held by us.

10. Security measures

To prevent leakage, loss, or damage of personal data, we implement safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS), access-permission management, and default-deny database access rules.

We may revise this Policy in response to changes in law or in the Service. For material changes, we will notify users by appropriate means such as an in-service notice.
